British Virgin Islands
The northernmost of the Caribbean Leeward Islands, The British Virgin Islands were discovered by Columbus. There are more than 40 islands in this breathtaking archipelago, most of them uninhabited, and only a few hours’ sail from each other. Each has its own unique character. These are the islands that inspired Robert Louis Stevenson to write Treasure Island and people still search today for buried treasure plundered by British pirates from Spanish galleons laden with Inca and Aztec gold. You can join them. Who knows, you might find it.
But more than the land, there is the sea – tropical, azure under a blue, blue sky. It holds some of the loveliest dive and snorkelling sites in the Caribbean. Whether you want to scuba dive or just snorkel, we can help.
Sailing conditions here are ideal. The wind is rarely more than a moderate breeze, ideal for sailing and there are countless safe havens within the islands where beautiful bays offer shelter from occasional stronger winds.
Currency
The US dollar is the standard currency of the BVI.
